Wow, what an ending! I genuinely did not see that coming.
I have been a fan of Rob Sinclair since reading The Enemy series, so I was over the moon when Rob offered me an early copy of Dark Fragments!
Dark Fragments is completely different to The Enemy series, but equally gripping.
Ben Stephens seems like your average bloke. He is married to Gemma, with two children he adores, but I felt he was still grieving for his first wife, Alice, who had been murdered seven years previously. Her killer was never found.
We soon discover that he had, in fact, been having an affair with Gemma before Alice’s murder. Alice herself had been unfaithful too, so their relationship had been far from perfect. He had adored Alice though. He isn’t quite sure he’s ever felt the same about Gemma, but they are basically happy.
That is until Ben finds himself in debt to a dangerous criminal and his life starts to spiral out of control. His twin sister, Dani (a police detective), who he hasn’t been close to for years, is back on the scene asking questions he doesn’t want to answer and Ben soon becomes desperate to put his past behind him, once and for all.
I can’t say much more without giving too much away, but I was totally fascinated by Ben’s story and I almost felt sorry for him at times. Almost!
Brilliant writing from Rob Sinclair once again. Dark Fragments is fast paced and full of suspense with great characters, some more dodgy than others! Things do get quite violent at times, but this is to be expected considering the storyline. I was totally hooked and I’m sure any fan of a good psychological thriller would be. I highly recommend to all! I’m looking forward to whatever Rob writes next.
A big thank you to Rob Sinclair for my ARC.
Dark Fragments will be published on 8th November 2016. You can pre-order your copy HERE
Murder. Money. Revenge.
Outwardly, Ben Stephens appears to be a normal, hardworking family man. In reality his life has been in turmoil since the murder of his wife, Alice, seven years ago. The killer was never caught. Now remarried – to the woman he was having an affair with while still married to Alice – Ben’s life is once again spiraling out of control, and he’s become heavily indebted to an unscrupulous criminal who is baying for Ben’s blood.
When Ben’s estranged twin sister, a police detective, unexpectedly returns to his life, asking too many questions for comfort, it becomes clear that without action, Ben’s life will soon reach a crisis point from which there will be no return. In order to avoid falling further into the mire, Ben must examine the past if he is to survive the present – but just how much pressure can one man take before he breaks?
