20190131_221401_0000

Today I am delighted to bring you a fabulous cover reveal for Daisy James’ forthcoming new release…..

About the book…..

Escape to Villa Limoncello… where dreams come true in unexpected ways.

When Isabella Jenkins is unceremoniously fired from her fancy London job, she escapes to Tuscany. A few weeks hiding amongst rolling hills and grape vines at Villa Limoncello sounds exactly like the distraction she needs.

But Italy holds emotional memories for Izzie and with a hapless handyman, a matchmaking village matriarch and a gorgeous – if infuriating – local chef named Luca Castelotti, her quiet Italian get away turns into an unending cacophony of chaos.

Suddenly Izzie finds herself on a mission to pull off the wedding of the century and maybe get her life in order in the process. If only Luca’s gorgeous smile wasn’t such a powerful distraction…

The Blood of Kings by #AngelaKing #BlogTour #AuthorInterview #LoveBooksGroupTours

Welcome to my stop on Angela King’s The Blood of Kings blog tour!

The Blood Of Kings cover

With thanks to Kelly @ Love Books Group Tours for arranging the following interview with Angela King…..

Where did/do you get your ideas from?

It begins with a puzzle, an anomaly in time. For Example: There are more than a couple of primary sources which describe Princess Elizabeth giving birth to Thomas Seymour’s baby while she was staying under her step-mother’s care. I love discovering secrets and look for conspiracy everywhere.

Are any of your characters based (however loosely) on anyone you know?

No. But they all contain facets of people I know or have known. Otar is a based on someone called Bruno Stern. Padruig is the shadow of an Irish friend. It would be very hard to create someone out of a vacuum.

How do you pick your characters’ names?

Sometimes I know their name before I’ve written their story but it took a while before I settled on Aalia. The name is a Sanskrit word for exalted. Then I met a beautiful lady called Aalia. She was PR to British Airways, a really powerful executive, someone who didn’t suffer fools.

Can you share your writing process with us, in a nutshell?

I’ve come to realise my first draft is merely a map. Once the story has taken shape I begin to build the landscape.

Who are your top 5 favourite authors?

That’s probably the most difficult question here.

First and foremost Dorothy Dunnett, who I consider a genius.

Bernard Cornwell has an incredible grasp on historic writing and makes his settings and characters very real.

John Buchan – he’s most famous for The 39 Steps but I think his short story called Greenmantle is far superior. It’s history woven with spies. Hitchcock wanted to make it into a film but couldn’t get Hollywood to fund it.

Mike Craven and Graham Smith are my favourite crime writers and also wonderful friends. Without their support I wouldn’t have dared send my work to a publisher. They’ve supported my efforts every step of the way and I’m completely in awe of their skill.

If you could meet any author, who would it be and what would you ask them?

In a way I met my hero when I was at college. Though I’ve no doubt it was due to my size (being very small-boned) I was offered the chance to clear out the attics of a building which had been donated to the town of Rochester, because nobody else could squeeze between the rafters. Anyway, the house once belonged to Charles Dickens and I think his ghost was watching as I opened the dusty trunks and discovered his hats and clothes.

Were you a big reader as a child?

Voracious. I was often ill and survived by reading books. Mum says I could read before I started school. I could never spend a day without a book.

When did you start to write?

I’ve always loved to write so I can’t set a date or time. I won a creative writing competition when I was fourteen and Sir Patrick Moore came to school to present the prize. I had to read my story on the radio – I was terrified.

If you could re-write the ending to any book what would it be and what would you change?

I wouldn’t dare. As far as I’m concerned the author is the boss.

Is there a book you wish you had written?

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

If you wrote an autobiography, what would your title be?

Lost in Perpetuity.

If you could invite any fictional character for coffee who would it be and where would you take them?

I imagine this scene too often, and every time the character changes. Yesterday I had lunch in Ennerdale and the view was grey and uninviting. It was a favourite walk of Dorothy and William Wordsworth and I was so glad we had the benefit of a car.

What are you working on right now?

I’ve almost completed the sequel to The Blood of Kings. Aalia is trying to return to India when she’s diverted by the past. That and a young man called Louis.

Tell us about your last release?

The Blood of Kings begins in the summer of 1559 when a young girl called Aalia arrives in London searching for her brother. Her quest takes her on a dangerous journey where there are very few people to trust.

Do you have a new release due?

To Kill a Queen is the name of the sequel but I’m still working on the finite details.

What do you generally do to celebrate on publication day?

Meet up with all my friends – writers, family, those who keep me sane.

How can readers keep in touch with you?

Apart from messaging my Facebook page I’m happy to answer emails – anna.king969@hotmail.com

Is there anything else you would like us to know?

I’ve always wanted a pet elephant. And because I’ve recently lost 70% of my hearing having a house pet would help when visitors knock at the door.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, Angela 🙂

Blurb

A gripping story of heartache and intrigue

  1. A girl arrives in London to search for her brother.

Aalia, an awkward, arrogant teenager plans to bring William to his senses, until she discovers that both their lives are based on a lie.

Aalia must unravels a web of secrets but has the weight of her past to contend with.

Courageous and undisciplined, Aalia gradually comes to terms with the truth that William, her brother, has royal blood.

Deciding to undermine the men who want to use him as a pawn, Aalia must negotiate a world where secrecy arms the powerful. But unwilling to ask for anyone’s help she is forced into making a fateful decision.

Who can she trust when everyone around her is plotting? Is the truth really something worth dying for?

This epic story of secrets and betrayal paints a vivid picture of Elizabethan England and asks questions that span beyond the test of time.

#WhatHappensInFrance by Carol E Wyer @carolewyer #BlogTour #BookReview @canelo_co

Welcome to my stop on Carol Wyer’s What Happens in France blog tour! 🙂

What Happens in France blog tour banner (Final)

Many thanks to Ellie Pilcher @ Canelo

My review…..

What Happens In France is a brilliantly written story which predominantly features Bryony Masters and her quest to find her sister, Hannah. Bryony has a blog and uses the usual social media, but nothing has worked, so far, so she aims to reach a wider audience for her search by applying for a brand new television game show. I thought this was a genius idea for a story and it works really well.

This might be a romantic comedy, but it has deeper storylines throughout. The guilt Bryony has carried around with her for years is heart-breaking. She didn’t have the easiest childhood and this shows in her character. She’s quite vulnerable and very likeable. I really felt for her. With her father being so poorly she is becoming increasingly desperate to find her sister as she believes time is running out to make everything right with their world again.

There are some fabulous characters in this story (The pug was one of my favourites!) and the actual game show process was brilliant. I didn’t think much of the host, but he made an interesting character all the same. If someone really gets on my nerves I know they have been written well! I loved the way Bryony and Lewis bounced off one another (for want of a better expression!). I was really hoping for Bryony to find happiness. Although she seems content with her career as an English teacher she obviously craves more out of life.

I did love the friendship between Bryony and Melinda. Some of their drunken nights in sound a bit like some of ours with our close friends! They obviously have that kind of relationship where they can be completely honest with each other also, which is lovely.

I will be more than happy to recommend this story. I have really enjoyed Carol Wyer’s writing style and totally expect to enjoy her other books (which are on my list!). This story has made me smile, laugh out loud at times and cry. It’s an excellent read!

Many thanks to the author and publisher for my review copy via Netgalley.

Book Blurb:

She stood and took her place in front of the camera… It was now or never”

Bryony Masters has been looking for her long-lost sister, Hannah, for years, but when their father has a stroke her search takes on new urgency. So when primetime game show, What Happens in France, puts a call-out for new contestants, Bryony spots the ultimate public platform to find her reality TV-obsessed sister, and finally reunite their family.

With the help of handsome teammate Lewis, it’s not long before she’s on a private jet heading for the stunning beauty of rural France. With a social media star dog, a high maintenance quiz host and a cast of truly unique characters, Bryony and Lewis have their work cut out for them to stay on the show and in the public eye.

Yet as the audience grows and the grand prize beckons they find that the search that brought them together may just fulfil more than one heart’s wish…

This heartwarming romantic comedy of friendship, family and laugh-out-loud adventures is perfect for fans of Kirsty Greenwood, Colleen Coleman and Marian Keyes.

20190131_221401_0000.png

I am absolutely OVER THE MOON to be joining in with the cover reveal for the very lovely Kim Nash’s forthcoming release, Amazing Grace

I can’t wait to read this and I’m pretty sure you will all be clicking that pre-order link as soon as you’ve read the following and clapped your eyes on the stunning cover…..

Amazing Grace

She’s taking her life back, one step at a time…

Grace thought she had it all. Living in the beautiful village of Little Ollington, along with head teacher husband Mark and gorgeous son, Archie, she devoted herself to being the perfect mum and the perfect wife, her little family giving her everything she ever wanted.

Until that fateful day when she walked in on Mark kissing his secretary – and her perfect life fell apart.

Now she’s a single mum to Archie, trying to find her way in life and keep things together for his sake. Saturday nights consist of a Chinese takeaway eaten in front of the TV clad in greying pyjamas, and she can’t remember the last time she had a kiss from anyone aside from her dog, Becks

Grace’s life needs a shake up – fast. So when gorgeous gardener Vinnie turns up on her doorstep, his twinkling eyes suggesting that he might be interested in more than just her conifers, she might just have found the answer to her prayers. But as Grace falls deeper for Vinnie, ten-year-old Archie fears that his mum finding love means she’ll never reconcile with the dad he loves.

So when ex-husband Mark begs her for another chance, telling her he’s changed from the man that broke her heart, Grace finds herself with an impossible dilemma. Should she take back Mark and reunite the family that Archie loves? Or risk it all for a new chance of happiness?

A funny, feel good romance about finding your own path and changing your life for the better – readers of Cathy Bramley, Jill Mansell and Josie Silver will love this uplifting read.

An Unconventional Affair Book 2, A Risk Worth Sharing

an unconventional affair cover

This second part of An Unconventional Affair finds Barrington Stone working in Australia for a year. Tranquility “Tee” Hammond, fifteen years his senior, has ended their affair, but for Barrington it was never over. He can’t wait for the year to pass to go back to her. However, after a drunken encounter, with a woman he later discovers is a sex worker, his life is changed forever. How can he possibly leave Australia, now that he has a daughter?

After accepting that Barrington won’t be coming back to the UK, Tee rekindles her relationship with the charming-yet-unconventional Sebastian Chandler, owner of a motorsports racetrack. Although living with Sebastian is “complicated” and life for the couple isn’t perfect, they are settled and Tee is happy.

But everything changes when Barrington returns. Tee’s heart is in turmoil, and Sebastian is afraid he will lose the woman he loves. As the plot thickens and twists unravel, Barrington must decide if there is one risk worth sharing.

The Cocktail Bar by Isabella May @IsabellaMayBks #BookBirthday #BlogBlitz #AuthorInterview & #Giveaway @rararesources

Interview with Isabella May…..

the cokctail bar author pic

For those who don’t know already, could you tell us about yourself and your book(s) please?

I’m Isabella May. I live in (mostly) sunny Andalucia, Spain but I grew up on the ley lines of Glastonbury, UK. I write fantastical foodie fiction: romcoms that use food and drink as a central theme and feature a sprinkle of magical realism.

Where did/do you get your ideas from?

Life experiences, travel and a love of food.

Are any of your characters based (however loosely) on anyone you know?

Subconsciously, yes. But it’s only after I’ve written them that it will dawn on me. Usually they are made up of a mixture of personalities and mannerisms of people I know.

How do you pick your characters names?

I try to be original without being too new-age! I also try to avoid having characters with similar sounding names, or names which begin with the same letter as it can get quite confusing for readers when they are getting to grips with the story.

Can you share your writing process with us, in a nutshell?

I am a pantser and an advocate for breaking the ‘writing rules’. With two young children at primary school in Spain (a country where school finishes at 2pm and the summer holidays are 11 weeks long) it’s hard to stick to any true routine, so I basically grab my writing opportunities whenever I can and milk them.

Who are your top 5 favourite authors?

I have so many favourite authors that it’s impossible to give you a consistent five… but five of my favourites from the books I’ve read this year would have to be Zoe Folbigg, Julie Caplin, Megan Mayfair, Heidi Catherine and Lizzie Chantree. All write exceptionally well and originally, and I love their unique ways with words.

If you could meet any author, who would it be and what would you ask them?

I’d love to meet Paolo Coelho and I think we’d talk Law of Attraction from dusk til dawn.

Were you a big reader as a child?

I loved books but I was never a stereotypical bookworm. Enid Blyton and Richard Scarry had me hooked though.

When did you start to write?

Since I picked up a pencil aged three!

If you could re-write the ending to any book what would it be and what would you change?

I’m going to be really annoying and say I couldn’t, so I wouldn’t. My stories are mine; another author’s story is theirs… regardless of whether or not I agree with the ending!

Is there a book you wish you had written?

I used to feel that way a lot, but I’m finally learning to quit comparing myself with others, so saying an emphatic ‘no’ to this question has to be part and parcel of that.

If you wrote an autobiography, what would your title be?

The Cake Monster

If you could invite any fictional character for coffee who would it be and where would you take them?

I’d invite River Jackson from The Cocktail Bar for a flask of coffee on top of Glastonbury tor… as long as he didn’t get any… erherm… ideas!

What are you working on right now?

Book four is out with agents (wish me luck!) and book five is halfway written. It’s a time-slip involving cake and a foray around the British Isles. It’s a lot of fun to write.

Do you have a new release due?

I really hope so! I have had three novels published with Crooked Cat Books, which has been a wonderful experience. But they are slowly winding down and so it made sense for me to take a brand new direction with book four (that one’s about gelato). It’s my best writing yet, and has been buffed and polished by a super-talented editor, so I just have to wait for divine timing and trust it will land on the right person’s desk at the right time. But patience, and being in limbo, are so not my strong points…

What do you generally do to celebrate on publication day?

Pub days are so busy and always tend to be week days (school days), so I will have a glass of bubbles, and then we will usually celebrate properly as a family with a lovely meal at the weekend.

How can readers keep in touch with you?

I’m very active (probably too active) on Twitter @IsabellaMayBks

And on Instagram I’m isabella_may_author

I should be more active on Facebook but it’s disheartening that fewer unpaid posts are being shown now, so the novelty there is definitely wearing off…

You can also check out my website: www.isabellamayauthor.com where I blog as regularly as time permits!

Is there anything else you would like us to know?

Just that I am so excited for this blog tour and really appreciate the support of every single book blogger and reader. It means a lot! xx

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, Isabella 🙂

the cokctail bar cover

The Cocktail Bar

Rock star, River Jackson, is back in his hometown of Glastonbury to open a cocktail bar… and the locals aren’t impressed.

Seductive Georgina is proving too hot to handle; band mate, Angelic Alice, is messing with his heart and his head; his mum is a hippie-dippy liability; his school friends have resorted to violence – oh, and his band manager, Lennie, AND the media are on his trail.

But River is armed with a magical Mexican elixir which will change the lives of the Three Chosen Ones. Once the Mexican wave of joy takes a hold of the town, he’s glad he didn’t lose his proverbial bottle.

Pity he hasn’t taken better care of the real one.
