My review…..

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!

I am so honoured to have been able to read an advance copy of The Liar’s Promise. A big thank you to the author and publisher for my ARC. I will be recommending this book to anyone and everyone.

To describe this book as disturbing would be a massive understatement! I absolutely LOVED it! Not quite sure what that says about me 😉 but I know there will be many, many, many people who will agree.

There are two storylines on the go in this book and the way they collide with each other is just genius storytelling.

Mel and Tony have a four year old daughter called Chloe who, following a visit to the theatre, starts to behave really strangely. I was instantly reminded of The Exorcist, which is the only horror film to have ever truly freaked me out. Honestly, it played on my mind for weeks and I can’t even watch spoofs of it, let alone the real thing again. I’m not sure how I haven’t had nightmares reading this book! Naturally Mel is terrified, but Tony is sceptical, initially. However, as the situation escalates there’s no denying this is more than a behavioural issue and some devastating truths are revealed.

Peter King is one of the most sadistic characters I have ever come across! Preying on vulnerable young girls and subjecting them to the most horrific, sick games, with the help of his lover, is nothing short of pure evil. He is a fascinating character though, but one I was praying would get the comeuppance he deserved.

I don’t want to say too much else, but the way the characters and their stories are intertwined is just brilliant. I was totally gripped.

My heart was beating so fast towards the end and I don’t think I really breathed through the last chapter! Another one of Mark Tilbury’s books that I’m not likely to forget in a hurry.

Absolutely outstanding writing!

I’m a huge fan of Mark Tilbury’s and I can’t wait to read whatever he writes next.

Good Me Bad Me

Publisher: Penguin; 01 edition (12th January 2017)

My review…..

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!

I finished this late last night as there was no way I could go to sleep until I had finished it. It took me quite a while to go to sleep after I had finished it!

I’m not really quite sure where to start with this review, but the word horrifying springs to mind.

15 year old Milly (AKA Annie) is living with a foster family having given evidence against her mother. She is preparing herself for the trial where her mother is facing a jury for murdering 9 children. 9 children! I can’t even begin to imagine. Not only that, but it is obvious very early on that Milly suffered physical abuse at the hands of her own mother. Thankfully there are no details as such, but the insinuations are enough to make your skin scrawl. Needless to say Milly isn’t your average teenage girl and she struggles to get on with Phoebe, her foster family’s daughter of the same age. As a result she endures bullying from Phoebe and her friends, on top of everything else.

I did really feel for Milly although she obviously has issues due to her upbringing. She seemed to crave a normal family, but didn’t really know how to fit in to one properly. It was hard to imagine how she would even begin move on from the horrendous things she had witnessed and been subjected to and I have no idea how I would deal with giving evidence in court against any family member, let alone my own mother, so her reaction to what she was facing is very plausible.

I knew the story wasn’t going to be as straight forward as Milly getting through the trial and moving on with her life, but nothing prepared me for the actual truths which are uncovered along the way! Absolutely shocking and quite disturbing, but totally gripping. I was completely captivated by Milly and her story. It’s a very tense read. I almost felt like there was a weight on my chest as I was reading and I think I held my breath through parts in anticipation of what might happen next. Amazing writing. I loved it! It’s one that I will think about and recommend for a long time to come.

Many thanks to the author and publisher for my Kindle copy via Netgalley.

Having joined in with the cover reveal for Just One Time earlier this month (https://chataboutbooks.wordpress.com/?s=just+one+time), I am delighted to be bringing you an interview with the author herself 🙂

Just One Time blog tour

Interview with K.S. Hunter…..

For those who don’t know already, could you tell us about yourself and your book(s) please?

I was born earlier this year. I’m actually the pen name of an international bestselling author. Just One Time is my ‘first’ novel. It’s a steamy psychological thriller about lust, seduction, obsession and revenge. I’d liken it to the classic movie Fatal Attraction.

Where did/do you get your ideas from?

My novels so far have typically been inspired by other authors’ books and their writing styles. But Just One Time is based on something that happened to me when I was in a theatre in London. I unwittingly shared my mobile phone number with a stranger who offered to help find my phone when I dropped it on the floor in the dark. Only after I’d shared it did my mind fill with a lot of what-ifs. What if this person contacts you and then won’t go away? I thought. So that ended up being the beginning of Just One Time. The rest of it, thankfully, is all made up.

Are any of your characters based (however loosely) on anyone you know?

None of the characters are based on me or anyone I know – and I’m glad because they’re all really unpleasant people. Gone Girl is filled with vile characters, so I didn’t shy away from making them all seem like shits.

How do you pick your characters’ names?

With great difficulty. And it’s usually several pages of writing before I realise I’ve already used a name, or one that sounds like it, in one of my previous books. It’s just a case of trial and error really. I’ve changed my mind many times during writing. In one book, I actually changed a character name right at the end.

Can you share your writing process with us, in a nutshell?

With Just One Time, it was sit down, drink Jack Daniel’s and watch the words flow!

Who are your top 5 favourite authors?

K.S. Hunter’s favourite authors are Gillian Flynn, Sidney Sheldon, Harold Robbins, E.L. James and Bret Easton Ellis. But mine are Sophie Hannah, Ian McEwan, Harlan Coben, Tennessee Williams and John Williams.

If you could meet any author, who would it be and what would you ask them?

John Williams. He wrote the most beautiful novel called Stoner. It was released in 1965 and quickly went out of print. A few years ago, it was republished and became a bestseller. I’d just love him to know the success that his novel found so many decades later and I’d ask him how that made him feel. A movie is about to begin production. I can’t wait to see it.

Were you a big reader as a child?

I started reading when I was about thirteen. I never read books for children or teenagers. I asked my dad, who was an avid reader, to give me a novel and it started from there. That magical book was The Doomsday Conspiracy by Sidney Sheldon.

When did you start to write?

I wrote my first novel when I was sixteen. It sat in a cupboard for several years and then I revised it. It was published almost a decade ago now.

If you could re-write the ending to any book what would it be and what would you change?

Gone Girl. It started off so well and had me hooked. Then it just became plain ridiculous.

Is there a book you wish you had written?

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. It is the cleverest piece of writing I’ve ever encountered. One by one, ten strangers who have been lured to an island start to die. And when you’re down to the last two survivors you’re still none the wiser about who the killer is. It’s got an epic twist.

If you wrote an autobiography, what would your title be?

Why is my name K.S. Hunter?

If you could invite any fictional character for coffee who would it be and where would you take them?

William Stoner from John Williams’ Stoner. I’d give him a kick in the backside to make him realise he needs to stand up for himself.

What are you working on right now?

I’ve got the beginning of a novel written and know the rest of the story, which is unusual for me. Right now, I’m waiting to see what happens with Just One Time. If it sells well, the next book will become a steamy psychological thriller. Otherwise, the story will be twisted into a sequel to my bestseller. So I will either be K.S. Hunter again, or I will be me.

Do you have a new release due?

Just One Time will be out on 7th December.

What do you generally do to celebrate on publication day?

I click onto Amazon every three minutes, obsessively checking if the sales rank has gone up.

How can readers keep in touch with you?

Facebook and Twitter. And I have a new website. Of course, it won’t really be ‘me’ they communicate with.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions! 🙂 I’m so intrigued by who you really are!!

Desire can have dire consequences
Two years ago, David Madden made a mistake that almost cost him his marriage. His wife, Alison, gave him another chance, but she has not forgotten, nor has she forgiven.
She is irresistible
Then David meets the alluring Nina at a theatre in London. When he loses his phone in the dark, she helps him find it, and by giving her his number he unwittingly invites her into his life.
What David initially views as an innocent flirt turns into a dangerous game of deception. His increasingly suspicious wife thinks something is up, and each lie he tells pushes them further apart.
She is insatiable
Nina pursues David relentlessly, following him to New York where she gives him an ultimatum: sleep with her, just one time, and then she’ll get out of his life forever; or she’ll ruin everything he holds dear.
She is unstoppable
Of course, once won’t be enough for Nina, and what David hoped would be the end is merely the beginning.
A modern-day Fatal Attraction, Just One Time is a steamy psychological thriller that will have you hooked from the first page and holding your breath until its shocking conclusion.

I am thrilled to be joining in with BK Duncan’s The Last Post blog tour 🙂

The Last Post

Many thanks to Sarah Hardy, at Bloodhound Books, for the opportunity to take part.

My review…..

The Last Post is an excellent introduction to BK Duncan’s soon-to-be-released book, Foul Trade. It’s the start of what promises to be a gripping series.

It might be short, but it certainly packs a punch. I found it to be quite a powerful story which introduces us to May Keaps who is a 20 year old ambulance driver. Keaps is stationed on the front line (set in 1918). The men she transports have horrific, all too often fatal, injuries. I can’t even begin to imagine having to do that.

When a young captain is found dead, it looks like suicide. Keaps finds herself in the possession of something which may explain why.

Keaps is an intriguing character. Feisty, but likeable. I’m looking forward to catching up with her again.

The Last Post is FREE to download and I highly recommend you give it a go.

I’m very much looking forward to reading Foul Trade.

The Last Post cover

Book Description…..

It is April 1918. May Keaps is a twenty year old ambulance driver stationed at The Front. As if transporting hideously wounded soldiers, sleep deprivation and constant shell bombardment weren’t enough, she becomes unwittingly entangled in the untimely death of a young captain, Tobias Fairfax.

Newly-arrived in Northern France he was found with a discharged pistol by his side; rumours on the battlefield were that it wasn’t an accident and he had taken the coward’s way out, committing suicide.

Whatever the explanation, Tobias left a dangerous legacy that puts May in the line of fire. But she is not the only one with a reason to want to uncover the truth. And in a world where life can be extinguished in the blink of an eye, May might regret her search for answers…

The Last Post is the haunting introduction to the May Keaps series.

About the author…..

BK Duncan

BK Duncan is the pen name Ruth Wade has adopted for the May Keaps series of historical crime novels.

Born on a steam railway and brought up on the South Coast of England, such beginnings were destined to leave BK Duncan with a love of vintage transport, crashing seas, and Art Deco architecture.

Following a career encompassing developmental learning and change-management consultancy she now combines producing her own work with lecturing part-time in creative writing in colleges and academies in Cambridge and Oxford. Her two great passions are longbow archery and the Argentine Tango. Sadly, she is not nearly as accomplished at either as she’d like.

BK Duncan also writes historical crime novels as Ruth Wade.

About Audrey Davis…..

Audrey DavisScottish-born Audrey studied journalism in Edinburgh more decades ago than she cares to admit. She cut her writing teeth on provincial newspapers (using a typewriter) and a London-based video magazine (another sign of her advanced years). Engagement to her now-husband Bill took them to Singapore, Australia and Buckinghamshire, England, before they settled in Switzerland in 2002. Along the way they had two boys, both all grown-up and living in the UK. Her journey to becoming a published author began with an online Writing Fiction course. It took well over a year but, in June 2017, Audrey published her debut romantic comedy novel, A Clean Sweep. It was quickly followed by a shorter and darker prequel, A Clean Break. The idea for The Haunting of Hattie Hastings came from nowhere, just a random title that popped into her head and from there grew into Part One of a trilogy. It comes under the same genre, but has some poignant scenes and – hopefully – lots of laughs! Audrey admits to being a worrier, and has always used humour as a defence mechanism, as her friends will attest. When Audrey isn’t writing, she loves shows like The Walking Dead, American Horror Story and Strictly Come Dancing (a strange mix, she knows). Her interests include cooking (and eating pretty much anything apart from oysters), travelling and going to the gym. OK, the last one is mainly to compensate for her passion for food! Audrey would describe herself as a ‘pantser’ rather than a ‘planner’, preferring to run where a story takes her and scribble copious notes along the way. She’d love to write a page
turning thriller, but fears her natural tendency to see the comic side of life might be an obstacle.

Puppy: 12 Months of Rhymes and Smiles by Patricia Furstenberg @PatFurstenberg #BookReview

Puppy, 12 Months of Rymes and Smiles

Publisher: Independently published (23rd October 2017)

My review…..

I have never reviewed a children’s book before so I was more than interested in featuring Puppy, 12 Months of Rhymes and Smiles when Patricia Furstenberg got in touch to offer me a review copy. Many thanks to Patricia.

Puppy has a new home and this delightful book shares his first year with us all. Each month there is a new little adventure with this inquisitive little guy. He is adorable! He’s understandably curious about everything and is full of questions about his new little family. He’s happy and playful as he is loved and well looked after, as all pets should be. I have a Shih Tzu called Bella who is my baby 🙂

This is a lovely book with cute illustrations. A book I think will be loved and read over and over again by children and adults, especially those who are dog lovers. I have ordered a paperback copy for my Niece’s 6th Birthday in December.

Description…..

From the author of “Joyful Trouble”, No.1 Bestseller Children’s Historical Fiction, No.1 Most Gifted Young Adult and Top reviewed Kindle Storyteller book.

A puppy’s first year is filled with findings, wiggles and laughter.
Puppies squirm in all the odd places, sniff all the strange objects, lick everything they can and find something to splash into even when we don’t want them to!
This book of poems explores the first year of a puppy’s life, going through an adventure after the other, one month at a time.
Puppy’s first days, puppy’s first weeks in a new home, puppy’s encounters with snow and the school bag, puppy’s duty to protect… What happens when puppy is full of good intentions, yet his actions go wrong?
Enjoy the stories and laugh with your little one.

Bringing musicality into the duo of story-line and bright images, Puppy, 12 Months of Rhymes and Smiles promises to be an auditory feast for children, a fun read-aloud for parents and a treat for dog-lovers, young and old. A book that children and grown-ups will love reading over and over.

About the author…..

(Via Amazon UK)

Patricia Furstenburg

Patricia Furstenberg came to writing though reading, her passion for books being something she inherited from her parents.
She won two key legs (chapter six, “Someone is Missing” and chapter nine, “Reconstruction of the Crime”) of the Write Your Own Christie Competition and was runner-up for chapter four. The Judges “were impressed by her thorough investigation and admired the strength of her narrative; they were impressed by her style” and congratulated Patricia on winning the penultimate chapter. “This was perhaps one of the hardest rounds of the competition and the judges felt that Patricia’s chapter was confident and intriguing.” The judges thought Patricia’s writing style is “well structured, with a great sense of tension and suspense.”

The Judges were Mathew Prichard, Agatha Christie’s grandchild involved in publishing and promoting her books since 1960s, David Brawn, Agatha Christie’s Publisher at Harper Collins UK for the last 20 years and Daniel Mallory who works primarily with thrillers and crime fiction at Harper Collins US.

When she’s not writing Patricia likes to read, read, read, drink coffee and listen to music.
One of the characters portrayed in her children stories is Pete, the yellow toy elephant. Not many know, but Pete exists and lives in Pat’s home.
This Romanian born writer is living happily with her husband, children and dogs in sunny South Africa.

Don’t Tell A Soul by DK Hood

Prologue

Kill me. One blood-splattered cowboy boot crunched on the chipped cement floor inches away from his cheek. A sick chuckle followed by a nerve-shattering kick to broken ribs brought back the tremors. A lightning bolt of white-hot agony shot down his spine. In a desperate attempt to pull precious air through swollen lips, he spat blood and gasped precious air. Lungs burning with effort, he writhed like a worm in the dirt waiting for the death blow. His vision blurred and pain pierced his eyes. He had lost all sense of direction, and his tormentor’s peals of satanic laughter played tricks with his confused mind. Night had drifted into another day of endless torture. He tried to crawl away and puffed out a spray of red, stirring the straw on the dusty floor.
How long had it been since he walked into the stables? One day? Five days? Time had become the periods between attacks. He had suffered unimaginable torture from a man well skilled at inflicting misery, but he’d somehow survived. At first, he tried to reason with his captor and gave him the information he demanded, but he had fallen into a lunatic’s sadistic fantasy. He had had no time to retaliate, no time to bargain for his life. The first hammer blow knocked him senseless and he came out of oblivion into a world of pain, tied hand and foot at the mercy of a monster.
He hovered between reality and delusion. The mind is a wonderful organ, and his tried to compensate by taking him on trips to the beach with his family. At times, he floated into another dimension on marshmallow clouds but reality came crashing back with each round of torment. He soon discovered crying or begging for mercy made the sessions last longer. Biting back moans and pretending to be unconscious gave the wielder of pain no satisfaction.
Under him, the cold floor acted as a balm to his injuries, numbing the agony, and when darkness came, he could crawl beneath a pile of stinking straw. The fermenting horse dung kept him warm, kept him alive. He had spent the first hours in captivity gnawing at the ropes around his wrists, using his teeth to loosen the knot, but one swing of the lunatic’s hammer put paid to any hope of escape. A shadow passed over him. A boot pressed down on his spine, the heel twisting to part the vertebrae in bone-jarring agony. Sensation left his legs. He has paralyzed me. Determined not to give him the satisfaction of crying out, he remained silent. One more night naked on the freezing ground would finish him, and he would welcome the release.
A car engine hummed in the distance and Cowboy Boots bent over him, grabbed his legs, and dragged him into a stall. Straw tumbled over him, coating his eyelashes with dust. Through the golden strands, he peered out the open door and his heart pounded in anticipation. A police cruiser pulled up in the driveway and two uniformed officers climbed out. A female cop handed his captor a piece of paper. He edged forward on his elbows, dragging his useless legs behind him. Sucking in a deep breath, he screamed though his shredded lips but only a long whine escaped his throat. The woman glanced in his direction and he clawed at the ground, edging inch by inch from the stall. He had to get her attention, and fighting back waves of nausea, he tried again. “Aaaaarh.”
The police officer indicated toward the barn with her chin then moved in his direction, but Cowboy Boots blocked her way and shook his head. A grin spread across his face with the cunning of a gargoyle, evil personified. The cop spoke again but her muffled words dissipated in the wind and his tormentor’s attention moved back to the paper in his hand. Somehow, he had convinced her all was well. I have a chance to escape. He dug for his last ounce of strength and bucked to move forward one painful inch at a time.
I must crawl into the open. Spitting blood, he pushed sound through his shattered mouth. Hear me. Please hear me. “Aaaaarh.”
The woman flicked a look his way, squeezed Cowboy Boots’ arm in a comforting gesture then followed the other officer back to the car. Despair enveloped him, and all hope lost, he allowed the tears stinging his eyes to run down his cheeks. Footsteps came tapping on the cement floor like the ringing of a death knell. His cries for help had enraged the maniac.
“How dare you try to alert the cops? I own you.” Cowboy Boots spat a hot, slimy globule on his cheek. “It’s your fault the bitch scanned my yard. You are so gonna pay.”
Blows rained down on him, searing pain exploded in his head, and his vision blinked. A strange fog surrounded him and he embraced the peace of darkness.

Kay wandered over to the water cooler and filled up two white plastic cups before joining the small group around the whiteboard at the far end of the incident room. The winter sun had dipped below the horizon over an hour ago, the sky turning from pale grey to black within minutes. Kay checked her watch. She’d forgotten to eat, and hoped the final briefing of the day would be short. ‘Here you go,’ she said, and handed one of the cups to Barnes. ‘Thanks.’ Supervisors for the team responsible for reviewing the ANPR and CCTV images were present, as well as a number of administrative staff from headquarters who were tasked with liaising with the uniformed officers. Kay yawned, the packed incident room quickly becoming stuffy due to a combination of temperamental central heating and lack of ventilation. She and the rest of the team had been running on coffee and adrenalin all day, and despite her best efforts, exhaustion was beginning to seep in. Sharp blew a loud single-note whistle to bring the numerous muted conversations to a halt, and everyone turned their attention to the front of the room where he stood. ‘Thank you. Debbie – can you dim the lights, and I’ll take you through the images we’ve got from the cameras.’ He hit a remote switch, and an aerial view of Maidstone appeared on the wall beside him, the projector’s light catching the shoulder of his jacket as he moved to one side. ‘My thanks to our uniformed colleagues who have worked all day to pull this together for us. We’ll start with the crash site and work backwards. As you can see from the image here, we’ve got a lot of area to cover.’ Kay fought down the tiredness, knowing she had to stay focused. Whoever the driver was, she wouldn’t relax until he was convicted and put away for a very long time.

Interview with Kiltie Jackson…..

For those who don’t know already, could you tell us about yourself and your book(s) please?

Hi, I’m Kiltie Jackson and I recently released my debut novel ‘A Rock ‘n’ Roll Lovestyle’. My leading lady is Sukie McClaren and, like me, she is a cat-lover, a Christmas lover and a massive fan of the film ‘The Sound of Music’. She is sent to Austria on a business trip in December and, whilst there, happens to meet – and befriend – Pete Wallace, the world’s number one rock star. The book explores how living in the public eye, or being a celebrity, is not all it’s cracked up to be. Behind the glamour and the pizazz it can be a very lonely life. There is also an element of suspense running through the story as the brother of a young lady, who was badly injured at a Pete Wallace concert a few years prior, is set on exacting some form of revenge.

Where did/do you get your ideas from?

They come from anywhere and everywhere. Day dreams, night dreams, a song on the radio… In one case, it was just a name. A DJ on the radio read out a dedication to a young lady and I liked her name. I thought “Hmmm… I wonder how I could use that…” By the time I was parking my car a few minutes later, I had the essence of a plot worked out. In the case of ‘A Rock ‘n’ Roll Lovestyle’, I can’t recall exactly where the idea came from – I started writing it over ten years ago – but I’d guess it would have started from seeing some celebrity being harassed by the press on television or in a newspaper piece.

Are any of your characters based (however loosely) on anyone you know?

I have one character in my novel that’s based on a lovely friend by the name of Jeff Rowland. He is named after Jeff but, where the real Jeff is a renowned artist, book Jeff is an art dealer. Earlier this year, we thought we were going to lose the real Jeff to cancer and I wanted to let him live on in my book. Fate, however, was on his side and I am delighted to say he is still with us and healthier now than he’s been for a while. He was so happy to be in my book that I kept him in. Plus, he has now become integral to the next two books I am writing!

All others characters are completely fictional – at this time!

How do you pick your characters names?

Sukie McClaren was named after my first cat and my, at the time, favourite F1 racing team. Pete Wallace just sort of came to me. I chose Wallace because it’s a good Scottish surname. Other characters tell me their names or I may use the name of a friend but perhaps jumble it up a bit. Sometimes I may use a friend’s actual name because they get a thrill from seeing themselves in a book, although their character will still be fictional.

Can you share your writing process with us, in a nutshell?

When I have an idea, I make a note of it, and then let it marinade for a time in my head (usually as I am working on something else). By the time I am ready to put it on paper, I have worked out most of the story line or plot. I then bash the keys to create the first draft. Once that’s completed, I’ll begin to edit and fine tune, hopefully picking up typos, grammar and punctuation along the way.

Who are your top 5 favourite authors?

In absolutely no order:

Deric Longden

Susanna Gregory

Erica James

Jill Mansell

Karen Swan

If you could meet any author, who would it be and what would you ask them?

It would be Deric Longden and I would ask him how did he always manage to find the funny in life? Even in the darkest of times, he could see light and humour in situations that would make other people cry. His books are always so upbeat and never fail to make me smile.

Were you a big reader as a child?

Oh yes, from a very early age. I could read before I was four years old and have always had a book ‘on the go’ since then. Enid Blyton was my goddess as a child and she pretty much carried me through my pre-teen years.

When did you start to write?

I’ve always written in one format or another. As a child I would create stories, in my twenties I dabbled in song lyrics and poetry and then, in my thirties, I began to write ‘A Rock ‘n’ Roll Lovestyle’. Unfortunately, I lacked belief and conviction at the time and didn’t return to it until earlier this year. I started to take writing seriously on the sixth of January, 2017.

If you could re-write the ending to any book what would it be and what would you change?

I genuinely cannot think of any that I would want to change. If a book ending doesn’t thrill me, I forget about it very quickly. I’m sure there are some but I really can’t remember them.

Is there a book you wish you had written?

I think ‘Riders’ by Jilly Cooper. It was such a massive hit and spawned a number of fabulous follow-ups – that’s what most writers hope for.

If you wrote an autobiography, what would your title be?

‘Did I Really Do All That?’ – I’ve always thought I’ve lived a dull and ordinary life but, through writing a number of Guest Posts, and answering questions, for this Blog Tour, I’ve discovered that it has been more interesting than I have given it credit for.

If you could invite any fictional character for coffee who would it be and where would you take them?

Thomas Chaloner from Susanna Gregory’s Restoration novels / series. He constantly mentions that coffee tastes terrible in the 1700’s (which I’m sure it did!) so I’d take him to a little local café to show him how it has improved over the centuries.

What are you working on right now?

I’m about a third of the way through writing my second novel and the working title is ‘Of All The Unlikely Places’. It links up to my first book but is not a direct sequel. Characters from book one appear in book two but it could also be read as a standalone.

Do you have a new release due?

I’m aiming for the end of June 2018 but nothing is concrete on that just yet.

What do you generally do to celebrate on publication day?

I’m currently still working full-time so publication day for my debut novel came and went with very little notice. Maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to be in the position to throw a big launch party.

How can readers keep in touch with you?

I’m very active on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/kiltiejackson, and I also have a newsletter sign-up facility on my website where I will send out a monthly email letting people know what the latest developments are – http://www.kiltiejackson.com

Is there anything else you would like us to know?

I’m rubbish at roller skating. The first time I tried it I almost broke all four limbs and my neck so I have avoided it ever since. Strangely, however, I’m not too shoddy at ice-skating and, while I can’t do any fancy footwork, I can successfully traverse a few circuits of an ice-rink without falling over!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, Kiltie 🙂

Thank you for asking and for taking part in my first blog tour. It’s been a pleasure. Kiltie xx

A Rock n Roll Lovestyle cover

A Rock ‘n’ Roll Lovestyle

So who exactly is Sukie McClaren?

A Christmas-loving Cat lover? A Sound of Music Fanatic? A Fiercely Independent Woman?

She is all of the above. And when she is sent to Salzburg for a business trip a few weeks before Christmas, she thinks all her dreams have come true. As she packs her suitcase, the only things on her mind are Christmas markets, lots of snow and finally seeing the Doh-Ray-Me steps. Becoming the new best friend of the world’s hottest rock-star doesn’t even get a look in.

Pete Wallace is a reclusive, reluctant, rock-star and the world’s Number One, best-selling, male solo artist. It’s been three years since his last tour and he’s now preparing to go back on the road again. A week in Salzburg, schmoozing with the music press, is one of his worst nightmares.

He can’t wait for it to be over.

When Pete and Sukie meet, it is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Lonely for too long, he begins to remember how it feels to be happy and, for the first time in six years, Christmas feels special again.

Eduardo di Santo however, whose kid sister suffered life-changing injuries at a Pete Wallace concert, is all set on getting revenge. When Pete’s new tour is announced, he begins to make his plans. Plans that will culminate in Pete’s demise.

Will Pete and Sukie’s new friendship die before it has a chance to flourish?

A Christmas tale full of love, laughter, friendship and revenge.

About Kiltie Jackson

Kiltie Jackson
Kiltie grew up in Scotland, Glasgow to be precise. A very unique city with a very unique way of looking at life. When she was old enough to do so, she moved to London and then, after several years of obtaining interesting experiences -which are finding their way into her writing – she moved up to the Midlands.
She currently lives in Staffordshire with five cats and one husband. The cats kindly allow her and her husband to share their house on the condition they keep paying the mortgage!
Her little home is known as Moggy Towers, even though despite having plenty of moggies, there are no towers!
She loves reading, watching movies, and visiting old castles. She really dislikes going to the gym!
Her biggest desire is that one day she can give up the day job and write her stories for a living.
Kiltie first began writing ‘A Rock ‘n’ Roll Lovestyle’ over ten years ago. The project was shelved on Chapter Seventeen as she felt the story wasn’t flowing as she would like it to.
In her own words “The images in my head would not come out of my fingers!” Fast forward to November 2016 when, having finished reading Lizzie’s Christmas Escape by Christie Barlow, she read more about the author and was inspired with how Christie herself came to be a best-selling author.
In that thunderbolt moment, Kiltie knew – with a deep certainty- that she needed to reacquaint herself with ‘A Rock ‘n’ Roll Lovestyle’ and begin writing again. She did this in January 2017 and found the words flowed faster than she could type them. Finally, the time was right for her to write her novel.
Her determination to finish what she had started all those years ago was absolute and the first draft was completed on Sunday 16th April 2017.
Since beginning to write again, the ideas have not stopped flowing. She has begun typing up her second book, ‘Of All the Unlikely Places’, and book three (not yet titled) has been worked out and is waiting in the wings for its turn in the spotlight.
She currently has a further ten plots and ideas stored in her file (it’s costing a fortune in USB drives as each story has its own memory stick!) and the ideas still keep on coming.
She now lives her life around the following three quotes: “I love having weird dreams, they’re great fodder for book plots!” “Why wait for your ship to come in when you can swim out to meet it?” “Old enough to know better, young enough not to care!”
